Resilient Fisheries and Livestock value chain for inclusive and sustainable growth in Somalia – (RAAISE Growth in Somalia)
The proposed project has been designed and will be implemented within the EU’s framework for the Emergency Trust Fund for Africa. The project is in line with the overarching priorities of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2020–2024. These priorities seek to enhance political stability, peace and improved security; and enhance economic growth. The project is intended to support and align the current national policies and frameworks. Specifically, it supports two pillars of the NDP: the inclusive politics pillar and the economic growth pillar. Additionally, the project supports the Somalia Recovery and Resilience Framework 2018–2023. The Somalia Recovery and Resilience Framework aims to promote sustainable recovery from droughts, while addressing the underlying drivers of drought vulnerability.
Within the United Nations Strategic Framework (UNSF) for Somalia 2017–2020, the project will contribute to UNSF Strategic Priority 5: “Political and socio-economic opportunities enhanced, leading to meaningful poverty reduction, access to basic social services and sustainable, inclusive and equitable development”. The project will also contribute to Strategic Priority 4 of the UNSF on “Strengthening resilience of Somali institutions, society and population”.
